September is the beginning of something new:  Fall

Why do I create ART?

My Art is about the blessing of Life.

Reflect on your present blessings of which every man has many, not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some. Charles Dickens

Life is a gift from GOD.  I strive to paint the beauty I see all around us. “

My work consists of experiences I’ve had, and the wonder and amazement I see around me. I’ve been given wonderful talents and I have courage to paint the canvas of my life.  I’ve appreciated Watercolor for almost 20 years.  Easy, flowing color connecting concepts with color.

I have related pleasure and pride, love and curiosity in my artwork. I love watercolor.

I also enjoy pastel; the direct application of color just inches away from the surface of paper is an emotional delight.  To apply color, not relying on the typical brush which pushes color around, keeps a very loose application of color.  I’ve done a few pastels and intend to do many more.

Printmaking: I make mono prints by painting on glass and then use a brayer to transfer the image to watercolor paper. I’ve also experimented with Screen printing, sometimes called serigraphy; when printing is done on paper it has long proved its worth as a fine art and commercial medium. Silk screen printing offers another type of expression.

Oil Painting: I have a few very large canvases’s stretched and have completed a large oil painting keeping the “Powers of Ten” in mind while I painted.  From the macro to the micro, from the universe to quark!  Our Great Creator, GOD ALMIGHTY made it all!  I’ve also painted “Creation, the 5th Day” A large oil painting.

Yes, I do stay very busy.  I pray daily, and invite JESUS to give me ideas when I struggle with them.  For example, for one show I did a work titled “Woman at the well.” (John 4:6-29) She looks surprised and stunned to hear from JESUS yet wants to understand more and runs to tell the people of her village to “Come and See”.
